About this course

Robotics without the barrier of expensive hardware. Every session runs in the micro:bit simulator, so a child with only a laptop can complete the whole course. Families who own a micro:bit flash their programs to the physical board and see the same code light up in their hands.

What your child will be able to do

  • Read a sensor value and act on it
  • Control motor output with a written plan
  • Design, test and revise a small robot behaviour
  • Describe an input → process → output system

Before starting

  • Some block-coding experience is helpful but not required

What you need at home

  • Laptop or desktop computer
  • Optional: BBC micro:bit v2 and USB cable

No hardware purchase is required — everything runs in the browser.

Safety notes

If using a physical kit, an adult should supervise battery handling and keep small components away from younger siblings. Never connect a micro:bit to mains power.
